Our Story

Founded in 2013 by Belgian designer Laurence Leenaert, LRNCE is a Marrakech based lifestyle brand with a focus on handmade goods. Originally specialising in leather bags, LRNCE’s range of work grew organically over the years as Laurence met with artisans and sampled new products. Today, we work with a small in-house team and a selection of artisans around Marrakech to produce ceramics, textiles, ready-to-wear, homeware objects and more.

Made by spontaneously combining shapes, materials, and colour, our one-of-a-kind hand-made pieces celebrate artistic design, the Moroccan community and local craftsmanship.

Our Values

All of our goods are made by hand or have a hand-made touch. Traditional craftsmanship is rooted in the culture of Marrakech and is at the heart of LRNCE. It may take a bit more time, but we enjoy the individuality of hand-made products, with two items never quite the same.

Everything is made in Marrakech. Our city is famous for its creativity and we enjoy working with a rich pool of talented artisans. Over the years we have developed close bonds with our artisans and their surrounding communities, learning from each other as we create together. We now work with more than 40 artisans, some of whom we have collaborated with for over 7 years.

We use local and natural materials. Our ceramics are made from terracotta clay from Safi, our embroidery is created using Moroccan wool, and we use locally hand-woven natural fabrics in our textiles. The quality and sustainability of our materials is very important to us and we select the best to create long-lasting beautiful products.

At LRNCE we understand that sometimes less is more. It is important for us to respect the local levels of production as our hand-made work is passed through many hands. We produce a limited number of our products, avoid large collections, and order minimal quantities from suppliers. We reuse as much of our supplies as possible, our scrap fabrics are stored, used for new pieces, or even recoloured with natural dyes.

Everything at LRNCE is designed with a touch of Laurence. Laurence works directly with our artisans in Marrakech to design an ever growing variety of products. The designs often feed into each other as a painting inspires a vase that will then inspire a framed work or pillowcase. Overall, the essence of LRNCE is combining our contemporary artistic vision with traditional craftsmanship.
